My Story: Bishop David Sunday Jesufemi

“For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek”. (Romans 1:16)

I was just meditating on the above quoted scripture verse, when the  Spirit of God took me back to where I started my journey.

Until 1990,  I was still smoking and sleeping with Harlots (prostitutes) at Fela’s shrine in Moshalasi area of Ojuelegba. And spent my Friday nights with Adewale Ayuba (a popular fuji musician) at Skindules Club, also in the Ojuelegba area.

During that period and before now, I hated preachers or pastors with passion.

I first gave my life to Christ at Foursquare Gospel Church, Alagomeji, Yaba Lagos in 1991. Before I knew it, I went back to my old life. But a year later, I had an encounter with the Lord. He entered my room and said I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. You have said who is the LORD, if you  repent and follow me I will use you and the whole world will know that I have called you.

This was around 1am middle of the night and the whole encounter lasted about 3hours. It wasn’t a dream, but a vision.

The following day two brothers came from the Redeemed Christian Church of God and preached Christ to me again, that was when I totally surrendered to God in 1992.

I later joined a team of brothers and sisters to evangelize. With the fire and zeal burning in me, I went out preaching the gospel with them everywhere, inside the molue bus, market place and on the street.

At the beginning of the Journey, I went through the believer’s and baptismal classes, and got baptized. After that, I went through workers in training class and became a worker. As years rolled on, I grew in the knowledge of the Lord and His service. I served in many departments, prayer champion, Sunday school teacher and wherever I’m needed. I later became a minister.

I became the minister in charge of church workers in my parish, area prayer champion in my area and prayer champion secretary at the National HQ, Ebute meta.

I went to the Redeemed Christian School of Mission (RECSOM) in 1999 and finished in 2000.

I moved to Christ Embassy Alaka Estate, and worked with the church as one of their leaders. Also worked with Winners Chapel, Ikorodu as one of the leaders; Treasure House Iju Road, Neighborhood Church of God, Ogba, His Presence Redemption Ministries, Ogba, all in Lagos and I have been to other churches/ministries in my position and assignment as I have to do with ministers and leaders (Church workers)

During these periods, I was wondering why the moving round. Once I’m in a place and it was time for another place of assignment, the Spirit will tell me, it is time to move. But now, I understand better.

I am sharing this, in case your story and journey look similar to my own. Be patient, God is training and preparing you for something bigger, than you can’t imagine.

I have been through many faith leaders and church founders time and space will not permit me to mention their names. I thank God for the privilege and opportunity to serve and be able to gather experience with exposure for these 27 years.

To some I am a teacher, to others, I am a pastor and to many I am a prophet, while to some people, I am an evangelist and to many others, I am an Apostle, also I have been a missionary to some villages. I learned from every experience and everyone.

Join us to thank God for these 27 years of ministering the word.

Our Thanksgiving is not only about the souls that were saved, healed and delivered or things we have. But we’re still on the way, walking and working the work in His way.
