Finishing 2022 Strong (1) By Babatunde Olugboji

As the year draws to an end, many of us have a lot of unanswered questions, and perhaps some unanswered prayers. God, am I still in line for that promise you made at the beginning of the year? God, will I get that breakthrough this year? While it is good practice to see the end of the year as a point of reflection on where we are in terms of the list of things we want to achieve, as believers, finishing strong means being faithful in seeking God to the end of the year and beyond. This week and next week, we will examine how to finish strong. This week, we will discuss finishing strong in the context of our walk with God.

We are still in a completely broken world with many distractions, anxieties, worries, complexes, struggles, and various attempts to lure us away from pursuing our walk with God. Sometimes, it can be challenging to finish strong. But take heart, we are given the gift of grace to finish strong through Christ Jesus. There is no struggle, endeavor, twist, or turn of life that Jesus isn’t with us to equip and sustain us.

Do you know it is very crucial to know and understand our identity in Christ? The power of Jesus to finish strong gives us every provision necessary to live out the life He’s called us to live. That’s why it’s essential to hold on to relevant Bible verses to encourage you and propel you forward when you are tempted to sit out.

When you desire to have the grace to finish strong, here are a few steps to finishing well, in the remaining days of the year 2022, and into the new year.

  1. Daily fix your eyes on Jesus and spend time meditating on the Word.
  2. Daily surrender your efforts to His power.
  3. Seek renewal through prayers,
  4. Receive God’s grace as He works through you.
  5. Be confident that He who began a good work in you will carry it through to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
  6. Pause to be still and Know that God is God.
  7. Gather with other believers to worship God, through worship, songs, and the Word.

The Bible says: ‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.’ (Hebrew 12:1) So, we need to be clear about how to run with endurance the race God has set before us.

How do we finish strong and run with endurance each day? We do this by fixing our gaze on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. ‘So, take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak, and lame will not fall but become strong.’ (Hebrew 12:12)

When your soul gets weary, remember you’ve been given the power to finish strong through Jesus Christ. He must be our focus and line of vision in order to run this race with endurance. When you do not feel strong, remember we’re always given Jesus’ strength to draw from.

Have a great week.
