CAN IS INCONSEQUENTIAL: PFN Denies News Report …say, we are part of CAN

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has reacted to an online publication (not Providence News) of 19th September, 2023 where it was reported by one Victor Oriola that, the National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke allegedly said, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was inconsequential.

According to a rejoinder denying the report and signed by the Lagos State Chairman, Apostle Enyinnaya Okwuonu and Secretary Apostle Akinyele Akindejoye, PFN denied the report in all entirety and described it as fabrication of lies, falsehood and figment of the writer’s imagination.

The statement stated, “Ordinarily, we would not have dignified the publication with a rejoinder but in view of the society we are, where lies, rumours, innuendos and propagandas thrives and sell faster than the truth, our silence may be construed to mean consent, hence this rebuttal and total denial.”

The Secretary, PFN South West Zone, Rev. Toyin Kehinde, the PFN National Vice President, South West Zone, Archbishop John Osa-Oni, Lagos State CAN Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite and Lagos State PFN Chairman, Apostle Enyinnaya Okwuonu

Explaining further, the statement said, “The PFN Lagos General Assembly was held on Monday 18th September 2023 and it was a delegate conference attended by accredited delegates from all our 21 provinces in Lagos State.”

Also in attendance were members of the State Executive Council (SEC), State Advisory Council (SAC) and (NAC) and (NEC) Members of PFN in the state.

The National President, Bishop Wale Oke who was the Chief Host led other national officers including the Deputy National President, National Secretary, National Treasurer as well as the National Vice President South West with the former Deputy National President and National Secretary also in attendance to the meeting.

The well attended meeting held in an atmosphere of love and warmth with beaming excitement of delegated members at the presence of the National President with other top members of the national executive, where he openly praised and celebrated the national leaders as well as PFN leadership in Lagos for their selfless service and quality leadership to PFN and the entire body of Christ.

“The president particularly commended the Lagos PFN Chairman, Apostle Enyinnaya Okwuonu for his leadership ability to navigate the ship of the association in Lagos State from the murky waters of politics in the wake of the 2023 general election.”

At no point during or after the meeting or in his speech and other extemporaneous response to questions did the National President, Bishop Wale Oke mention or say anything contrary about CAN as assumed by the writer of the fabricated news report. “One can only conclude that the writer’s allusions are nothing, but his mere conjectures and figments of his imagination.”

The National President of PFN personally and officially holds the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and its leaders in the highest esteem with regards that PFN remains part of CAN. Therefore, there is no whatsoever reason for him in any way to denigrate the umbrella body for Christians in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, a proposal to create a new structure for PFN in Lagos State was presented to the general house. The association maintained that consultations are ongoing with National leaders and founding fathers of the fellowship. Also, inputs from stakeholders in Lagos State would be considered before execution of the proposal.

PFN believes this rejoinder will lay to rest the lies and propaganda earlier projected by newsnowonline.com.ng medium through its writer Victor Oriola.
