Aboderin Calls for Renewal Synergy Among Clerics, as JCMC Marks 20 Years of Annual Fresh Fire Retreat
The President of Joint Christian Ministers Crusade International (JCMC), Rev. David Kayode Aboderin, has called on ministers of the gospel and Church leaders in Nigeria not to rely on past glory to function in 2026, but to overhaul themselves with fresh fire of the Holy Spirit to move forward.

Rev Aboderin made this known in a chat with Providence News while speaking on the 20th edition of the annual Fresh Fire Conference, themed “Greater Works”, scheduled to hold on Monday, 5th to Thursday, 8th January, 2026 at Alpha Mission International (Praying Garden), Koroboto Village, Ajia, Ibadan, Oyo State.
He said, there’s a need for every minister of the gospel, irrespective of your denomination and area of calling, to desire the fresh fire of God, to keep the anointing and the presence of God to flow for effective service. “Even if you have the anointing and His presence, you still need the fresh fire of God to rekindle them. Until the disciples received the baptism of fire afresh, they could not effectively serve in their area of ministry’s calling and assignment.

Aboderin emphasised that the annual fresh fire ministers camping retreat, earmarked for the first week in January of every year, started in 2006 and was inspired to bring ministers together in the spirit of fellowship, worship, and prayer for God’s guidance, direction, and instruction in the new year before launching out for the greater works ahead.
“The purpose of the fresh fire retreat, since inception 20 years now, is to give ministers a leap, to shoot into the year and lay a foundation to move their ministry to a higher level. It has become an important yearly period of iron sharpening among men and women of God from different denominations and ministries who aligned with God before launching out for the new year assignments”.
Quoting from John 14:12, Aboderin said over the years, it has been a wonderful time and experience with the Holy Spirit, with many ministers testifying to the transformation in their lives, ministries, homes, and endeavours. As we expect an outpouring of the Holy Spirit more than ever because the glory of the latter house shall be greater than the former.
“I believe this year’s retreat is going to be more prophetic and glorious for greater works, as the Lord Jesus Christ said before He departed the earth, that “greater works than I do you shall do also because I go to My Father”. There will be a deposit of the word and the Holy Spirit into the lives of every minister, and every day of the 4 days retreat will be spiritually, mentally, and physically impactful”, he said.

Calling on Church ministers, leaders, and workers, Rev Aboderin encouraged everyone in the ministry of God’s service to attend and participate in the fresh fire of the Holy Spirit; those who have not attended should come and experience what it looks like, and those who have been attending should not miss being there. We are looking forward to seeing many leaders of the gospel and church workers, including the youth, who will also have their own sessions.
“By God’s grace, frontline ministers of the gospel, including Rev Muyiwa Maku, Apostle Sunday Popoola, Pastor Olubi Johnson, Pastor Abiodun Wright, Pastor Kike Aboderin, Bishop Chinaza Anya, and others, have confirmed their presence to speak and minister in diverse ministries”, he added.
Since the fresh fire started in2006, every year has been better than the previous, and this year arrangements includes free feeding, accommodation, and transportation to as many who are willing to attend.
