FORMER CMD, UATH, DR PETER ALABI AND WIFE CELEBRATE 33RD WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
The former Chief Medical Director of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, UATH, Gwagwalada, Dr. Peter Alabi, and his wife celebrated their 33 years of marriage, describing their union as a testimony of God’s faithfulness, love, resilience and commitment.
In a statement by Celestine Toruka, marking the milestone, the couple said the 33 years have been “battles fought and victories won,” and years of “repeatedly choosing each other.”
“When we said ‘I do’ 33 years ago, we had no idea how far God would carry us. But one thing we know for sure: God has been with us all the way,” they stated.
According to them, their marriage has experienced seasons of challenges, tears, laughter, disagreements and reconciliation. They noted that their faith in God and commitment to one another sustained them through those moments.
The couple referenced Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 and Psalm 125:1-2 as scriptures that strengthened them during difficult seasons.
They said: “God kept us not merely together but stronger and more determined.”
Speaking further, Dr. and Mrs. Alabi challenged common perceptions about marriage.
“When the world said marriage is hard, God showed us marriage is holy. When culture said marriage is outdated, God showed us marriage is ministry,” they said.
They added: “Marriage is not a cage, it is a covenant. It is not a burden, it is a blessing. It is not a contract, it is a ministry.”
The couple encouraged younger couples not to give up on their marriages, stressing that lasting unions are possible and worth fighting for.
“Marriage can last. It is worth fighting for,” they advised. 
They also urged older couples to remain hopeful for new seasons of joy, purpose and strength.
Concluding, the couple said: “33 years later, we are not tired. We are testimonies. We are not surviving, we are thriving because the Lord is our keeper.”
They attributed the success of their marriage to God and gave Him all the glory.
