LAGOS 2026 CWC: Aina, Oyegbola, Johnson Call For Women’s Rebirth, Honour and Support; Empowered Women and Children
The Convener of Women on Assignment Ministries, Pastor Tinuola Oye-Johnson, has advised women to have a solid understanding of their identity before becoming wives or taking up positions in governance, the workplace, the marketplace, the church, or wherever they find themselves. She noted that if they are not secure in who they are, it will affect their progress and success.
She gave the advice as a guest speaker at the 16th edition of the Christian Women’s Conference, 2026, organised by the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, and the Lagos State Public Service Christian Fellowship, Women’s Wing. The conference was held at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, with the theme: B.I.R.T.H — Becoming, Influential, Radiant, Transformational and Honourable.
She described a woman’s becoming as the process by which God introduces the woman to the original woman He sees. “Before the earth introduced her, before family expectations and societal labels, God knew her,” she said.
Pastor Oye-Johnson stressed that identity matters and that women must discover who they are. She said true identity is first discovered in God, their Creator, to know His opinion about them and His plan for their lives.
“There are times life will toss you to and fro, and you will lose it. This is why today you have a lot of people having depression and mental breakdowns, because when challenges come without first knowing who you are, it can mess you up,” she said.
“In knowing who you are, you must feel secure that God has a plan for you, and no matter what you are going through, you will hold on to that which you know is the original plan and purpose of God for your life,” she added.
Speaking on the missing link between the old and new generations in marriage, where separation and divorce have become common, Pastor Oye-Johnson lamented the decay of the value system.
“Our values have changed,” she lamented, noting that the older generation valued principles such as, “remember the son of whom you are, the home you came from, and don’t do anything that will tarnish your family’s image,” more than financial reward.
“But today, we have the Association of Yahoo Boys’ Mothers. The older generation mother will tell her children, ‘don’t get involved in bad activities.’ Unfortunately, the new generation mothers have an association of Yahoo Boys’ mothers where they pray and fast for their children’s criminal success,” she said.

In the forthcoming 2027 general elections, Pastor Oye-Johnson encouraged women not to allow themselves to be used merely as campaign tools. She appealed to women to know their identity and not allow hunger to make them lose their values.
“I want women to be conscientious and stand for what is right. When in political positions, they should be agents of change, do things that will be honourable and bring transformation,” she stated.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, and Chairperson of the 2026 Christian Women’s Conference Planning Committee, Mrs. Lolade Aina, said that for women to be at peace, they must arise and become what God wants them to be.
She made the point in her address at the well-attended conference. Mrs. Aina reminded participants of the conference theme’s foundation scripture, Proverbs 4:18, and emphasized that every meaningful birth begins long before it is seen — with vision, nurtured by faith, and refined through seasons of preparation and perseverance.
“Women are created as a good thing and require a process to prepare them to become what faith leads them to become,” she said.
She added that the essence of the acronym B.I.R.T.H is progressive growth and continuous transformation, with a call to give birth to fresh dimensions of influence anchored in integrity, radiance that reflects the beauty of Christ, transformation that touches families, institutions and communities, and honour earned through faithful service and godly character.
She called on women serving in public office, the marketplace, ministry, business, education, healthcare, or the home, regardless of age or social status, not to underplay but to practically comply with all they learned during the conference.

“Our world does not merely need successful women; it needs women whose lives radiate Christ. God has strategically positioned us to be vessels of positive influence in this generation. This is our season, and we have been born into it to manifest,” she said.
The Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Office of the Head of Service, Lagos State Government, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, remarked that it is time for women to arise and become, to birth a new generation that will win its generation for Christ.
She called for self-awareness among women and charged that every woman must first become, warning that if you do not first become, you cannot be influential, radiant, transformational and honourable.
The Convener of the 2026 Christian Women’s Conference, Pastor Mrs. Folashade Ajayi, in her welcome address, said birth signifies new beginnings and represents hope, possibility, purpose and the emergence of something new. Likewise, she said, the conference marks the beginning of a new chapter for every participant — a season to rise beyond limitations and become women whose lives illuminate generations and bring glory to God.
Other guest speakers at the conference were Apostle Ruth Ese Essien, Pastor Mrs. Boade Akinola, Pastor Mrs. Sumbo Adeoye, Dr. Mrs. Omolara Oyadotun, Coach Bukola Oladeji, Engr. Mrs. Titilola Oluwadare and Mrs. Taiwo Lillian Taiwo.
Other highlights of the three-day conference included the presentation of Education Support Funds to 11 student beneficiaries and N250,000 medical support to a staff member. There was also a cooking competition, where winners from 1st to 4th position received prizes ranging from N150,000 and a giant air fryer to N50,000.

In the pageantry competition, the 1st position winner received N200,000, while winners from 2nd to 5th position received prizes ranging from N150,000 to N50,000.
