SIMAWA RESIDENTS PROTEST 3 YEARS OF DARKNESS, Cut Black Cake to Celebrate at IBDEC Head Office

Residents of Simawa in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State recently stormed the Headquarters of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) at Ring Road in Ibadan carrying different placards and dressed in black attires to protest against the poor services of IBEDC to the community which has led to throwing the community into three years of darkness.

Speaking on behalf of the community, the Secretary of the Simawa Independent Power Project, Aare Asoludero of Simawa, Chief Kolade Segun-Okeowo said the community has made several appeal and entreaties to IBDEC to allow the community source for independent power since IBDEC has failed in three years to provide her with power.

Addressing the protesters, the Chairman of Simawa Independent Power Project, Deacon Ezekiel Olaniyi Taiwo decried the attitude of IBDEC to the issue of power supply to Simawa and environs, he accused IBDEC of double standard.

The highpoint of the peaceful protest was the cutting of a black cake with inscription, “IBEDC: 3 YEARS OF DARKNESS”

In the course of the peaceful protest, some concerned staff of IBDEC approached the protesters and called for resolution.
