First African Church Elects Ogbonnaya as New Primate, Tasks on Missionary Works
The First African Church Mission (TFIACM), during its 135th Annual Conference has elected Most Rev. Ogbonnaya Christian-John as its Primate and Elder Ayorinde Ajala as the Deputy Lay President and charged the new leaders to focus on sustaining the church’s societal impact through missionary works.
The election was announced in a communique issued during the Church’s conference, held at the church’s Prayer City in Omu-Ijebu, Ogun State, and signed by the Committee Chairman, Rt. Rev’d O.D. Oladele, and the Secretary, Mr. Seun Adekoya, with other members, Mr. Femi Ojeyinde, Mrs. Kemi Komolafe, and Ven. Livingstone Okwa.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a conference, themed ‘Let Us Do it Now,’ commenced on August 10 and ended on August 16, 2025.
The new leadership brings to an end the tenure of outgoing Primate, His Eminence Sunday Oludare Matilukuro, who will disengage from TFIACM ministry on September 30.
The church commended the outgoing Primate for his successful tenure and congratulated the Primate-Elect and others on their election.
Meanwhile, the church announced the completion and dedication of the Primate Palace on August 4, 2026, marking a milestone as the Church’s Primate will officially reside there for the first time.
The church also pledged to continue praying for the country’s leaders and urged parents to prioritize their children’s upbringing.
The incoming Primate and General Council were tasked with turning the projected model school into a reality.
Also, the reconstituted Board of Trustees (BOT) members were formally presented and confirmed by the Corporate Affairs Commission.
The conference also sent congratulatory messages to Ven. Joel Yokti, Bishop-elect of Juntan proposed Diocese, and ratified the removal of Mr. Shola Taylor as the Mission’s Lay President.
