Nigerian Society Requires Continuous Impact of the Church – Bishop Micaiah Young Sr
The Jurisdictional Prelate, Nigeria United Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ (COGIC) and the Convener, Lifeline Global Crusade, has called on God-loving Nigerians, especially the Lagos State residents to get prepared and excited to be part of the Lifeline Global Crusade, a strategic and multifaceted approach to evangelism and soul winning, scheduled to hold from Thursday 12 to Saturday 14, September 2024 at Transformation House Church, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.
According to Bishop Micaiah Young, the unparalleled participation of local churches, Christian leaders, and organizations in the crusade theme, “Abundant Life” -to reach people across Christian denominations, churches, and ministries is crucial to achieving its primary goal.
He called on Church leaders to mobilize their members and members of the public to attend and participate in the crusade.
Speaking on why Christians should get acquainted with the crusade, he said, “To sustain the impact of the crusade, plans are in place to intentionally follow-up, discipline, and continuously encourage the new converts.”
“We are going to establish dedicated follow-up teams to collate the contacts and information of participants, and use the data to connect new converts with local churches for discipleship and mentoring through discipleship classes, Bible study, and other programmes to nurture the spiritual growth of the new believers”, he said.
Young stated further, “There will be continued leadership training and empowerment programmes, and workshops for pastors, church leaders, and new converts that will focus on equipping them with practical tools for effective ministry, strong networks, the collaboration of joint events, and resource sharing in the spirit of service for community outreaches like medical missions, food distributions, and social support programs.”
There will be opportunities for people to access teaching resources, receive encouragement, and participate in virtual Bible studies and prayer meetings. This is to use the insights of the crusade to refine future initiatives.
“The crusade is going to be unique and make a difference in many ways, especially with the diversity and complexity of Nigerian Christianity”, he declared.
He emphasized that “Our focus is on the unity across denominations, to bring Christians from various church backgrounds together, foster unity and collaboration in the Body of Christ with holistic approach beyond preaching and worship, but to include both spiritual and physical needs of people, as reflected in Christ’s ministry of compassion and care for a whole person.”
“The continuous training, and empowerment for leadership development for the church and the leaders are what will make this crusade stand out and a long-term strength for the church transformation”, he added.
“These elements not only make the crusade unique but positioned it, a significant impact in Nigeria”, Bishop Micaiah Young said.
