Help Is On The Way (2) By Babatunde Olugboji
As we continue the Help is on the Way series, this week, we will examine how God delivered the people of Jabesh Gilead from the hand of Nahash who inti , the men of Jabesh were so anxious that they begged him to make a treaty with them, to which Nahash agreed but on one condition: if they would allow him gouge out the right eye of every male in Israel.
Nahash was bent on humiliating them, but God was on their side. They asked Nahash to give them seven days to find help, and when the newly anointed King Saul heard what was happening, the Bible says the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him, and he burned with anger and went to action.
When you are on the Lord’s side, the enemy cannot change God’s plans for your life. No demon can withstand the power of God in your life. Here was what Jesus said in Mark 16:17-18: “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
The devil shouldn’t be whipping us, we should be whipping the devil, we shouldn’t be afflicted by diseases and feel helpless, when we have God by our side. We should get angry and tell the devil “I won’t take it anymore. I’ve had enough, I am drawing a line, and I dare you to cross it, Jesus gave me the power to trample over you. I don’t care if you plan to hurt me, such plan with turn to nothing. The plans of God for me are greater. He is my protector.”
As you are reading this, be fully aware that help is on the way. It is not the time to commit suicide, don’t throw your life away, don’t jump in front of the moving train. You might have been weeping all night, joy is about to break forth.
Remember that Nahash thought they wouldn’t find help? How wrong he was! Overnight, Saul was able to raise an army of 330,000 people. They went after the enemy, hit the camp of the Ammonites and slaughtered them, and those who survived were completely scattered. God gave His people complete victory. The people who were begging Nahash for a peace treaty found peace in God’s victory. What a mighty God we serve.
Will you say this aloud each day this week? I will never surrender to the forces of evil. I will stand my ground, it doesn’t matter how powerful the armies against me are, I am confident that help is on the way. I will not be disgraced, because I have the God of grace on my side. The Bible says in Esther 9:1, the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, but now the tables were turned, and the Jews got the upper hand over those who hated them. God has already turned the tables against my enemies and set a table of good things before me, in their presence. I have the upper hand.
For those of us who are citizens or residents of the US, happy July 4.
Have a great week.
