God Counts on the Church for Societal Leadership – Rev David Aboderin           …Church leaders nee

d adjustments – Pastor Wale Oladiyun

The president and the convener of the Joint Christian Ministers Crusade International (JCMC Int’l.), Rev. David Aboderin has said, leadership is about the capacity built in someone to do much more for God and impact generations.

Rev David Aboderin & Rev (Mrs) Kike Aboderin, President/Convener, Joint Christian Ministers Crusade International (JCMC Int’l.)

Rev. Aboderin said this at the JCMC Int’l Ministers Conference held at Ojodu, Lagos said, the church and the leadership can cause huge revival to our generation if we desire and take necessary step with action to that effect and the church will come much more alive than before with the glory of God seen over the church.

“It’s glaring, God counts on the church and its leaders, while people wait on the leaders and look up to the church for impacts and transformation of our society.”

Apostle Wole Oladiyun speaking at the JCMC Int’l Ministers Conference in Lagos.

Though churches and church leaders have done much through training, development and enhancing channels to impart knowledge, information, and resources into the lives of ministers and ministries for the good of the kingdom and to affect society. Outstanding ministers and ministries have been affected through several forms of development, and the people’s lives, the society and the church are going through reformation that cannot be the same again.

In his message as the guest speaker during the Ministers Conference, Apostle Wole Oladiyun challenged gospel ministers to stop comparing themselves with others. “God has put you in a peculiar area in the ministry, you are useful, and all you need is there for you. You only need to make some adjustments and not compare yourself. What you need is to examine your work, your wellness and hope. Then you will see what you have not done right and have done right”, he said.

The gospel ministers need practical adjustments to move forward. He advised them to spend more time, money, and be open to attending training, conferences, and seminars to learn new skills, tasks, environments, and schools of thought for their development.

“No matter how old you are, no knowledge is wasted. Do research, study, and learn to bridge the gaps. If you are tired of knowledge, you cannot progress and do anything, go for the knowledge first”, he said.

“Be honest with yourself and don’t take or expect everything for free. Many are wounding themselves wearing smelly clothes underneath and denying they’re smelly. It’s better to be honest and kind with yourself than cry out for help to get healthy”, he charged.

Adding that, “The major problem is a leadership problem, not a formation problem. Some ministers don’t know their personality and temperament, whether they’re choleric, sanguine, or melancholy. We need the general overview of ourselves, family, ministry, organisation, and homes to obey principles and not to compare them with prayers”.

    Oladiyun explained some areas gospel ministers need to audit and adjust themselves, especially in the ministry, including;

    1. Thanksgiving – the assessment of what God has done and expectations.

    2. Forming and building sustainable relationships.

    3. Human capital assessment – rating the impacts of employment, training, and volunteers of church/ministry workers.

    4. Audit for self, home, ministry, brand, relationship, company, heritage, and leadership style.

    5. Gap assessment management. Checking the gaps in the home, ministry, finances, health, wellness, and knowledge. Also, in spiritual and marital life, mentoring and nurturing of the children. Mindful of what to eat, and not compartmentalised food.

He advised gospel ministers to be honest and potent in their findings, prayerfully and carefully analyse them with innovative, critical thinking and a conqueror mindset to provide solutions.

“You must have someone you are accountable to, get an accountability partner, a consultant, or a professional to know how you are going to move in the next six months. Don’t be in a hurry or let your age cage you; you are not in competition. Allow the Holy Spirit to help you to grow.”, Apostle Oladiyun admonished.
