Discover Your True Identity, Know Who You Are in God – Pastor Iruofagha James
Pastor Iruofagha James, the founding Pastor and General Overseer of Glory Christian Ministries (GCM), Ijeshatedo, Lagos, has urged Christians to transcend mere church membership and born-again status by discovering their identity in God and understanding their newfound person. According to him, God created humanity in His image, giving each creation a distinct purpose, identity, calling, and destiny.

Speaking at the annual The Glory Summit (TGS) and the 34th anniversary of the ministry, themed ‘In His Image,’ Pastor James emphasized that being born again is not merely about moderating one’s old life but rather about embracing a completely new life and identity that requires attention.
He lamented that many churches focus on behavioral modification, where individuals may reduce their negative behaviours but still cling to their old lifestyle.

In contrast, Pastor James stressed that being born again requires a radical transformation, where the old self is put to death and replaced by a new, Spirit-led individual.
He underscored the struggle between the old and new natures, emphasizing that believers must prioritize their new identity in Christ.

Citing various biblical metaphors, Pastor James described the new life in Christ as a union from above that requires attention and nurturing.
He expressed the concern that many believers remain confused about their identity and fail to tap into their newfound status as children of God, heirs, and joint heirs with Christ.

Pastor James urged believers to align themselves with God’s purpose and identity, warning against allowing external circumstances or false narratives to define their sense of self.
“Dismantle some of those belief systems that have been installed in the hardware of the old man that should have been destroyed”, he warned.

He emphasized the importance of understanding one’s purpose and calling, cautioning against allowing others to dictate one’s identity. “Never allow another version of the story to change your identity because what you believe goes a long way to determine what you become”, he said.
Pastor James encouraged believers to embrace their new identity in Christ, reject false narratives, and live out their faith with confidence and purpose.
