Too Many Churches Without Kingdom Message –Dr. David Aboderin

The General Overseer, Faith Family Bible Church, Ojodu, Lagos and the host/Convener of Joint Christian Ministers’ Crusade (JCMC), Dr. David Kayode Aboderin has called on the Nigerian Church leaders and ministers of the gospel to drop doctrinal and church tradition teachings, and return to Bible principles and kingdom messages as practically taught and laid down by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dr. D. K & Pastor (Mrs.) Kike Aboderin, General Overseer, Faith Family Bible Church, Ojodu, Lagos and Host/Conveners, Joints Christian Ministers’ Conference (JCMC)

Dr. Aboderin made this call at the 2024 annual Fresh Fire Conference themed, “The KINGDOM – and this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached”, held at Alpha Mission International Prayer Garden, Koroboto village, Ibadan in Oyo State.

As Church leaders and ministers of the gospel, we are commissioned and mandated with a great burden and necessity to ensure the gospel of the kingdom is preached instead of the gospel of doctrines, traditions, prosperity strategies and ideologies that are taking over the pulpit to overshadow the gospel of the kingdom.

Quoting the scripture, Aboderin said, the Bible states with a promise that, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

He admonished ministers of the gospel to preach the message of astounding forgiveness and redemption of souls to those who will forsake their sins and gladly surrender their lives to God. “It is this same message that Jesus Christ continually proclaimed and commissions the church to go on proclaiming today”, he admonished.

Participants in worship and prayers mood.

He frowned at the situation where all manners of false teachings, evil practices, demonic demonstration and false prophets are now marauding about and fast spreading falsehood to oppose the gospel of the kingdom.

Aboderin called on church leaders and ministers of the gospel, not to relent and allow the zeal of their call to override the core purpose of their Calling’s message. “Irrespective of your position, title, doctrines and tradition, this is what we are called to do in all nations of the world, including villages, towns and cities, before the second coming of the Lord Jesus. To preach the gospel of the kingdom and where the light of the gospel is, it will illuminate and darkness will be overpowered”, he charged.

Cross section of participants listening to the word with rapt attention.

Shedding light on the annual conference, Aboderin emphasize that, the vision of Joint Christian Ministers’ Conference (JCMC) which was birthed in 1996 and established in 2000 to foster unity among churches and collectively take the land for Jesus Christ through revival and evangelism gave birth to Fresh Fire Conference in 2006 with the aim of bringing churches, church leaders and ministers of the gospel, regardless of their denomination together for the purpose getting fresh oil of the Holy Spirit to start the year and get better insight into the work ahead in the atmosphere of sharing, fellowship, worship, word and prayer with one another.

Speaking on the present state of the church, Dr. Aboderin said, we need fresh fire of the Holy Spirit and the spirit of revival to manifest the original plan of God. “It’s unfortunate that, today, we have many churches around but only recycling members, followers and the crowd without passion to lead their souls to God but are limited in the church hall attendance”.

He challenged church leaders and ministers to draw people back to the place of His presence, cultivate the habit of obedience to His word and diligently walk with Him in righteousness. “On a serious note, we must passionately go back to His presence, the principles of His word and genuinely submit to His commandments”. Else, as the Bible made it clear, “if we continue to apply human and sensual methods to get spiritual solutions, we will continue to fail and get it wrong. There will be no divine intervention and solution to our difficult situations”, Aboderin said.

Participants at the well attended open conference are gospel ministers and church workers from various denominations across the country who have respected guest speakers and facilitators, including Pastor Segun Adebowale (US), Pastor Femi Adesanya (Portharcourt), Rev. (Mrs.) Mary Olubambi, Pastor (Mrs.) Kike Aboderin, also the president of Alpha Mission International Prayer Garden, Pastor Samuel Wright and others at the three days conference, that will end on Saturday.
