Nigeria is in Bondage of Rapists and Captive of Thieves – Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor
The Senior Pastor, Word of Life Bible Church, Warri, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has described the situation of Nigeria as a land in bondage, and her people held captive by rapists against their wishes.
Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor who was the former Presidents of CAN and PFN respectively, made the remark as the guest speaker at the 2024 National Convention of the Gospel Church of Christ in Warri, themed, “Open Heaven”.
Oritsejafor, quoting from 2 Samuel 13: 14, pointed to the story of Amnon, the son of David, who raped his sister, Tamar, and later threw her out after the rape. “He was dying for her before the rape, but a moment after raping her, he threw her out, his sister”, he lamented.
“Rape is bad, it is evil and wickedness. How much more, when you raped your sister and threw her out after. There are women in this world who have been raped and experienced rapist heartlessness. But, most of the time, they would rather be silent over the issue and carry on with the shame than speak out. Africans, we bottled in a lot of things, and that is why many people die young today”, he said.
“He, raping her means he was in bondage, and throwing her out, means he was a captive. “The person he has been dying for, he just raped her, and that was it, everything was gone. That is captivity”, he stated.
Lamenting on the present situation in Nigeria, he said, “Everyone is looking, as if we are not praying. I love prayer, and we have been praying. Faith without works is dead. After praying, something must be done, and action must be taken. But, as key church leaders in this country are concerned, including myself, we are deceiving people, and deception is everywhere.”
Nigeria is where it is today because we have rapists and thieves living and working here and there, including inside the church. The rapists manipulate, deceive and mislead people to believe and trust them with power, and the moment they have the power, and use it to achieve their selfish desires and greed, they dumped and throws away the trust people gave to them. Today, there are many people inside the church, and among the church leaders who are deceiving, manipulating, and misleading people, in readiness to finish destroying the land, Nigeria, and its people with their lying tongue.
Lying is bad, but people are caught between the ocean and the blue sea. Some have no reason to lie, but lies when they don’t want to lie, and there’s no need to lie. But, God said, a liar will go to hell. Also, some people steal, but they don’t have to steal, and there are people with a deep soul, already dying, but have the spirit of greed. If you fill an auditorium with money, they will still want your little own, that’s greediness. Such people are captives.
“Many Christian who speak in tongues are captives and slaves of sin, they are slaves of anger. A woman everyone is clapping for in the church, and always fighting is a slave to anger. You now understand that, majority of people, including Christians need deliverance, because they are captives. They listened to messages, but, they’re not free. They have become captive of sin, captives of sickness, of poverty, of begging, and other bad character”.
Captivity in indiscreetness is the captivity of poverty. There are poor people. but it is not their fault. I understand, there are lazy people and professional beggars in the church, they wait till after the service to beg. They don’t go to work, and if you give them work, they don’t feel like working. You give them money to start a business, and they don’t feel like not doing it. Some are not lazy, but they are not ready to do anything.
The spirit of poverty is often generational bondage and whatever is done or put a hand to do in this generational bondage, becomes a failure. It is a captive, and only God can free someone in that captivity.
He gave the example of Gideon in the Bible, and described Gideon’s situation in the city of Manasseh as undeniable generic poverty, where everyone in the family is poor beyond definition until Gideon changed his mindset with the narration of admittance, sacrifice, and obedient.
“Until people decide to change their mindsets from a negative situation to a positive situation with readiness to admit that situation, obey the word of God, and sacrifice to change the situation, they will remain in a perpetual and generic poverty situation”, Oritsejafor said.
When you see some people, you will know they are poor, sometimes we cover our problems with fine clothes. Some men have tried their best, anything they put their hand to do, ended up a failure. Also, there are women whose husbands have given money many times to start a business, but whatever they started ended in failure. That doesn’t make the woman a bad woman, it is caused by captivity. Many are laboring, praying, and buried under closed heaven, in the midst of this situation, the heavens are still open.
“If you are seeking open heaven, don’t joke with the presence of God, it is the right place for ascending and descending the gates of heaven you need to experience open heaven”, Oritsejafor admonished.
