Lagos State CCN Elects, Sworn-in Rev Stephen Oyinlola As the Chairman
The Lagos State Chapter of Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), a bloc of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) comprises of the Methodist Church, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), and Nigerian Baptist Convention, the Salvation Army, the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, the African Church of Nigeria, others, has elected a leading Anglican cleric, Revd Dr. Stephen Olayinka Oyinlola as the new Lagos State Chairman, and Very Revd Ayo Oyadotun of Methodist Church, as the new Secretary during a seamless and successful rancour free election that took place in November 20th, 2025, at United African Methodist Church Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

The well-attended and fully represented by other denominational members of CCN, also had in attendance, the presence of the Lagos State CAN Chairman, and the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), also the Chaplain of Aso Rock Chapel, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, and the immediate past Chairman of our grand bloc, CCN, Archbishop Samson Adekoya (JP), of The Church of the Lord (Aladura).
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected CCN Chairman, also the Coordinator of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ejigbo LCDC, Rev. Dr. Stephen Oyinlola, expressed gratitude to God for the great privilege to be called and serve in His Vineyard, and appreciate the bloc denominational members and Church heads for the honour bestowed on him and trust entrusted in him with responsibility as elected Chairman of CCN in Lagos State.
Rev. Oyinlola promised to be committed to his new office as a true servant leader, saying, I am committed to truth, and God alone will be our strength. I will rely on God and all of you for encouragement and support, as we work together as a team, guided by the philosophy of “One for all and all for one.” The harvest is ripe, and labour is about to start, he stated.

He reminded the bloc members and Church heads that, as we serve the Lord and His people, let us remember that the foundation of our community is unity, love, and a commitment to God’s Word, as he prayed the Lord continue to guide the bloc by faith, hope, and compassion that illuminate Christ’s light on a hurting world.
To fulfil his administrative vision, Oyinlola outlined a plan to work on the acronym, DESC – Discipleship, Evangelism, Social Impact, and Community building.
He emphasised that training and development help to sharpen skills, as its discipleship is to deepen the knowledge of Scripture for Church members and prepare believers for the ministry.
Further more, “the practice of sharing the Good News and souls winning through available opportunities within the local and global communities will be capitalized on to proclaim the gospel, serving the vulnerable, advocating for justice, and displaying God’s love in practical ways, by providing opportunities for women and youth to reach their full potential while remaining relevant, with the creation of enabling environment of love, support, and inclusion, that will make Lagos State better through positive impact in unique ways and to make the city feel the gospel of Christ through our actions”, he said.

While appreciating the body of Christ for the opportunity to serve, he acknowledged the support of his local council Chairman, Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo, the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, and he celebrated the support and encouragement of his amiable wife, and mother of his children, Mrs Temitope Oyinlola.
Rev. Stephen Oyinlola appealed for cooperation and called for teamwork among denominational members and church heads to join hands in accomplishing the set goals of advancing God’s Kingdom, empowering Christians, and spreading the gospel to all corners. He was committed to leading with honesty, discernment, and empathy; seeking God’s direction in all decisions.
