Lagos CP, Adegoke Declares: No Policeman Has Right To Beat or Search Citizens Phone …urge citizens to expose corrupt officers
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fayoade Adegoke has warned that, no policeman has the right to beat a citizen. “You citizens are our boss, the government pays us through your tax. So, we must accord you the necessary respect.”
The commissioner made this known while speaking during his visit to the newly established Melody FM, 107.7FM radio station at Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos State.
Speaking further on police officers searching for phones, the Lagos CP said, “no policeman has the right to search your phone. If a policeman suspects anything on your phone, he will take you to the station to search the phone, we have a cyber department that deals with all that.”
He reiterated that bail is free while advising citizens to expose corrupt police officers. “If you feel you have been cheated by a police officer or a police officer engaged in corrupt practice, kindly report the police man to his DPO and if the DPO is not forthcoming, report to the Area Commander. I believe your case will be solved but if you still feel cheated, you can report to me directly, my phone number is open to all Lagosians,” he said.
