INDIAN VEGETARIAN AND VEGAN UK HONOURS WINNERS OF LAGOS SECONDARY SCHOOLS ESSAY COMPETITION
The Indian Vegetarian and Vegan UK, in partnership with Chi Empathy Towards Animals Organization, had a successful conclusion of its Essay Competition for secondary school students in Lagos, Nigeria.
The competition, held with the theme “BENEFITS OF A VEGETARIAN DIET”, recorded a remarkable number of students from; The Writers College, Tower Triumph Comprehensive School, and Distinct College, Egan, Ikotun, Lagos with two age categories; age 11-14 and 15-18, who participated and submitted thoughtful, and well-researched essays on health, compassion, and conscious living.
The winners of Ist position received – N50,000, 2nd – N30,000, and the 3rd – N20,000 for each category, while other participants received N10,000 each.
SELECTION PROCESS
After the panel of judges carefully and thoroughly examine the entries some students were selected as winners, including;

APPRECIATION and AWARD CEREMONY
In recognition of the students’ effort and participation, a token of appreciation was presented to students who participated in the competition.
The awards and prize presentation was held on Monday, 6th July, 2026, at the Distinct Comprehensive College, Moshalashi Road, Egan-Igando, Lagos.
Indian Vegetarian and Vegan UK extends gratitude to all participating students, parents, teachers, and school authorities. We remain committed to inspiring a more conscious, healthy, and empathetic generation through youth engagement.
According to some student participants, they were delighted to hear about vegetarianism, and also to participate in the lecture and competition for the first time.
Yunusa Oluwanifem Hamod, a JSS 2 student of Distinct College, Egan, said, “I feel great and happy because the award means a lot to me, and I appreciate organiser, Mr. Chiemeka Chiedozie, for the enlightenment and the award because he told about what we don’t know and heard about vegetarian. But now he came to our school to enlighten us and we are pleased to gain more knowledge.
Asalaudeen Aishat, also a JSS 2 student of Distance College, Egan, said, I am happy for the award and I am grateful to the organiser, Mr. Chiemeka Chiedozie because I have not heard about this competition and the benefits of vegetarianism before. I am looking forward to being a Medical doctor.
Ale Rosemary an SS1 student of the Tower Triumph Comprehensive School, Ikotun-Egan thanked God for the organiser, Mr Chiemeka Chiedozie for the lecture and competition. It gives me a better knowledge, understanding, and the benefits, with courage as a vegetarian. I love it and it has broadened my knowledge and desire to study law.
