God Watches Over Our Generosity -Babatunde Olugboji

In Acts of Apostles, the Bible introduced a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. This man and his family were devout and God-fearing, and he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. One day he had a vision where he encountered an angel of God, who told him: “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.” (Acts 10:1-4).

This week, God has prepared something wonderful for you, which you will only be able to unlock with a character like the one Cornelius displayed.

The Bible in Genesis 22 narrated how Abraham was set, based on God’s instruction, on sacrificing his son on Mount Moriah. There was the ram coming up the hill at the same time Abraham and Isaac were approaching the mountain, without one being aware of the other, so that Abraham would not kill his son.

God is not just moving you, He is also moving situations and circumstances, so that he can bring you in touch with things and people that will favor you. And at the perfect time. God is getting stuff ready to ensure that you get to where He is taking you at that same time when supplies will arrive there, just like it happened for Abraham and Isaac on mount Moriah.

Such was the situation as God connected Cornelius with something great in his home. God noticed Cornelius, even though technically he was without Covenant, not a person you would describe as a believer, yet he has had an experience with God. Cornelius was neither Jewish nor a Christ follower at this point, and Judaism would have considered him no more than a dog.

Do you know that there are some people we have condemned that God has embraced, that God has built a memorial in their honor based on their love for Him? A memorial is an object, often large and made of stone that has been built to honor a famous person or event. God said of Cornelius: I have watched your generosity, it has attracted me, spoken to me, and led me to your home. God knew Cornelius’ address and sent his angel to visit him. Isn’t it a great thing when God knows your address?

God watches over our generosity. Giving is a Grace that all believers should crave. Cornelius gave alms and God recognized his generosity.

The key to God’s abundance is generosity. It causes God’s kind of blessing to break out in your life. It is not just giving to your local church or to the needy. It is a habit that you need to cultivate.

The Bible says the Queen of Sheba gave King Solomon 120 talents of gold, large quantities of spices, and precious stones. “Never again were so many spices brought in as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.’ (1 Kings 10:11). Although Solomon was wealthy, Queen Sheba thought it wise to give to the wise King, perhaps so that God can also bless her with Solomon’s kind of wisdom.

May you seek God’s help in making you a generous person like Cornelius. And may his angel touch down in your home this week.

Have a great week!
