Adeboye Fires At Critics; I Am Talking To My Children, Not You
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has said his recent statement and sermon were meant for his children and not his critics.
Pastor Adeboye was speaking during Sunday service in response to comments from feminists and some Nigerians over his birthday message to his wife, Folu on Instagram.
It will be recalled that, Pastor Adeboye was criticised when he publicly commended his wife for being submissive and advised women to learned from her and not fail in their primary duties.
Many Nigerians took offence at his comments and accused him of exercising masculinity and being oppressive.
Preaching on a topic, “From Lockdown to Lift up”, Adeboye said his message is for only his children, they are the only ones that would understand his language.
He added that, some of the things he says annoy non-members of the church. “As a matter of fact, if there is a way of preaching this message just to my children alone, that is what I would have done, but that would amount to selfishness”.
Occasionally, there are things you say to your children that would annoyed outsiders, but I am not talking to you, I am talking to my children”.
He added that, the lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic has made the door open to everybody to listen to his message.
“Some people see the glory, but did not know the story. Some people see me and say all kinds of things, it is none of my business. I did not need to respond to anyone, but keep doing my work for Christ”, he added.
