Church Commission Community Road Project, …says, the Church is the salt of the earth
The founding pastor of Glory Christian Ministries, Pastor Iruofagha James has said, the church is the salt of the earth and ought to be a flavour to whichever community it belongs.
Pastor James stated this during the commissioning of 600m road project Glory Christian Ministries rehabilitated and resurfaced at Odo-Olowu Street where the church is located and had been in it’s 30 years of existence as a ministry.
In his words, Pastor James said, “The church is supposed to touch every part of the society, that is why God has placed us here on earth and positioned us in every community. The church is the salt of the earth and it is ought to us to be a flavour to whichever community we belong”.
“God is going to hold the world, both geographical and in the very things that we do, areas where we stay and in our profession where we work. This is our community and we are just trying to touch lives”, he said.
While addressing Odo-Olowu residents, especially the youth, Pastor James charged, “believe in yourself, trust God that you are going somewhere and never allow anyone bring you down. Decide to walk with God and you will get to where you are going”, he admonished.
In his speech, the chairman, Odo-Olowu Community Development Association (CDA), Apostle Babajide Iroko expressed deep appreciation of the CDA executive, the Community Development Council (CDC) of Itire-Ikate LCDA and the entire Odo-Olowu Community, to the church and the founding pastor for laudable execution, completion and delivery of the road project that has not only improved the axis infrastructure and standard of living, but signals to reducing traveling time and resolving traffic gridlock in the area.
“Our community sincerely appreciates Glory Christian Ministries, members of the Christian family under the leadership of Pastor I. S James and contributions of all those behind the successful completion of this project. Also, we acknowledge and appreciate residents for their understanding and cooperation while the project was going on”, Iroko stated.
The Chairman, CDC Itire-Ikate LCDA, Otunba Dupe Adekoya remarked that the commissioning was another great day for the entire Itire-Ikate community and not Odo-Olowu alone. He thanked the General Overseer of Glory Christian Ministries and commended the church for taking initiative on the road project and completing it in a short time. “Though, the church had been doing marvelously, supporting and contributing to the community development. The road project added value that impacted on the lives of the community members”, he said.
“The project is not only beneficial to Odo-Olowu street alone, but the entire Itire-Ikate community and this singular effort has stand the church out among societies, churches and organisations in the community”, Adekoya added and called on the Divisional Police Officer (D.P.O) of Itire Police station, CSP Muhammed Bala, represented by the Divisional Crime Officer (D.C.O), ASP Adezor, to consider and increase security patrol of the road, especially now that the road is upgraded and motorable to ease movement.
Savouring the commissioning, chairman of Odo-Olowu branch of NURTW, Com. Arogundade Saka happily said, “this is what they call church, Glory Christian is our church. Thank you Pastor James and thank you members of the church. We love and appreciate what you have done. We are happy”, he said enthusiastically.
Giving the vote of thanks, the Chairman, Community Project Committee (CPC) of Glory Christian Ministries, Elder Francis Odukoya appreciated the church founding pastors for initiating and championing the road project. He thanked the CDA Executive for their cooperation and support to the CPC as representative of the church towards successful implementation and delivery of the road project.
Odukoya, a former resident who grew up in the community said, the joy was double for the church. As we delivered the road project and began the 30 years anniversary of existence in the community as a ministry.
Using the occasion to openly invite members of the community, especially the youths to the one week 30th anniversary to be held from Tuesday 8 to Sunday 13 March, 2022. Elder Odukoya, testified and said, “I grew up in the Odo-Olowu community and joined the church as a youth. I grew with the church, developed spiritually and today, I thank God for my level and how far God is taking me by being a member of the church”.
“This is a church, a place where you will hear the undiluted and true word of God. Come and be part of what God is doing here, your life will never be the same again. You will increase, grow and get better for the community you belong to”, he charged.
The church has come to the community to say and demonstrate that it has a responsibility to impact people’s lives positively and this indicates that the church gate is open to everyone in the community who desires to improve and develop their lives in a godly way”, he added.

Adezor (representing DPO, Itire Police Station, CSP Muhammed Bala), Pastor (Mrs.) Yemisi Duggan, Elder Joseph Osim, Elder (Mrs.) Victoria Adeyemi, Elder Patrick Ebuzoeme, members of the church and members of the community.
