ENACHIOKEN IN COUNCIL TO HONOUR DISTINGUISHED ABIRIBA WOMEN AND COMMUNITY FRIENDS …Ceremony Scheduled for November 23 and 24, 2025
The Abiriba Ancient Kingdom of Abia State is set to host a landmark two-day royal ceremony honouring exceptional Abiriba women and notable friends of the community for their contributions to leadership, peacebuilding, and community development.
The honours, known as Ada Ena and Inyom Abiriba, are conferred by the Enachioken of Abiriba and his Council as part of an age-long tradition that upholds women’s relevance in the sociopolitical structure of the kingdom.
Abiriba is one of the few communities in the world with a strong matrilineal heritage, where children trace their lineage through their mothers and women maintain an independent leadership system under the Eze Inyom Abiriba.
The celebration also commemorates the historic Abiriba Women Protest of November 25, 1992, when women staged a peaceful march from Abiriba to Umuahia to press for government intervention during a crisis that threatened communal peace.
The demonstration led to swift resolution and became a defining moment for the recognition of women’s roles in community stability. Consequently, November 25th was declared Abiriba Women’s Day.

This year’s honours will be presented in two categories:
• Inyom Abiriba, reserved for senior women and community icons with lifelong achievements.
• Ada Ena, designed for emerging women leaders and reputable personalities of proven integrity.
Prominent honorees for the Inyom Abiriba title include Her Excellency Dr. Precilia Chioma Otti, Dr. Georgina Mma Agbagha, Barr Nnenna Obewu, and Ezinne Ada Obasi.
Honorees for the Ada Ena investiture include Lolo Esther Ogisi Ina, Nneoha Nnenna Ejindu Ireke Mang, Barr/Ebere Ifendu, Dr Ashley Ubani Roberts, and Chief Mrs Grace Udensi, among others.

The honours also extend to friends of the community, continuing a tradition that has previously recognised figures such as former Nigerian Stock Exchange President Dr Ndidi Okereke and Inyom Nkechi Obi.
The event will hold on November 23 and 24, 2025, with the first day dedicated to the Inyom Abiriba investiture, followed by the Ada Ena grand finale.
The Enachioken in Council has constituted organizing committees and extended invitations to Abiriba sons, daughters, and allies worldwide. The community is already abuzz across social platforms, with honorees releasing invitation cards ahead of what is expected to be a colourful cultural celebration.
The Council says the awards reinforce Abiriba’s guiding principles of unity, progress, and women empowerment.
